Before I came here, everybody warned me: New York winters are freezing and windy and it snows ALL THE TIME. Well, you were wrong. So far, we had snow only on two days, one on October and one last Saturday. It also melted only a day after in both cases. We didn’t even experience a lot of rain, nor wind. Okay, It’s clearly colder than California, but most of the time the sun is shining, sorry to disappoint here. However, most New Yorkers are prepared for the usual winter weather and especially for the rain. And as much as you think of New Yorkers in their black garb, when it comes to rainy days, New Yorkers get experimental. You’ll see rain boots in all colors and patterns: bright pink, hot red, mustard, fir green, paisleys, mother-daughter partner looks – I even saw some transparent ones with lace inside at a shop some time ago.
I couldn’t get myself to buy them, though, because after all, they’re rain boots and thus not in the “stylish footwear” register of my brain. I might have to reconsider that, if spring brings more rain. But for now, I’ll just document the current state of rain boot-ness in the Big Apple. Enjoy the pics!
